With great sadness, we announce the passing of Vic on Wednesday, January 8, 2025.
Vic was born in Amman, Jordon, the first child of Armenian parents, Elizabeth Bekarian and Torkom Saraydarian. His parents (along with their 4 children) immigrated to this country in 1959 and settled in the Los Angeles area.
Vic attended UCLA and graduated Cal State Northridge with a degree in political science. With a law career on the horizons, he graduated McGeorge Law School in the top third of his class in 1971 and passed the bar the same year. Vic joined the Sacramento District Attorney’s office and within three years, he was supervisor of the office’s appellate section and worked in the special-projects department.
Vic returned to Southern California, and after a time at the Riverside DA’s office, he won an election for a Riverside County municipal judgeship in the Temecula area. After 15 years, he successfully ran for Superior Court Judge and retired in 2005. Retirement was grand. He and his wife, Zenda, traveled extensively, RVing around the country, 27+ cruises, kayaking, hiking, fishing, etc. etc. All while “part time” judging around the State of California until November 2020.
Vic and Zenda finally retired and relocated to SaddleBrooke. They embraced the community and made many wonderful friends and found their church home at Mountain Shadows Presbyterian Church.
Vic had a passion for life. He loved spending time with family. He always had the dream that "all our family could get acreage and all live together in harmony forever”. His hobbies included reading, experimenting in the kitchen (to all the delight of his friends) and traveling, His dancing eyes, calm personality and zest for life will always be remembered and cherished, especially by his loving wife, Zenda. His affiliations were far too many to list.
Vic leaves his beloved wife of 25 years, Zenda; his two children, Garo (Jen) and Ani; his 2 stepdaughters, Gina Perona (Todd) and Candy Reyna (Zef); 9 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Brothers Toros (Sandy) and David. Sisters Gita Sample (Steve) and Nairi. Niece Bella; Brother-in-law Mike Mercurio. He was pre-deceased by his former wife, Sandy, the mother of his children.
In lieu of flowers, a donation in Vic’s loving memory can be made to Mountain Shadows Presbyterian Church of Tucson or SaddleBrooke Pet Rescue (sbpetrescue.org.)
