Bob Manthey

–

Oro Valley, Arizona

Bob was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota on April 26, 1937. He spent his childhood years in Minneapolis and was a proud graduate of Southwest High School class of 1955! He went on to graduate from the University of Minnesota in Engineering. You probably already know he was a member of the brotherhood of Sigma Alpha Epsilon! He married JoAnn Rode and had two children - Doug and Janet. He enjoyed raising the kids in River Hills and spent a lot of time coaching hockey and softball. Bob spent his working years as a co-owner of Applied Fluid Power. In 1986, Bob married Sue Smith. They enjoyed countless trips to their condo in Maui and traveled back and forth between Lake Carlos and Tucson. They bought their home in SaddleBrooke in 2001 where Bob became actively involved in softball, golf and watching the mountains turn pink! Summers were mainly spent at Lake Carlos playing with his four grandchildren and volunteering at the Minnesota Lakes Maritime Museum. He loved spending time on the water, sailing his Hobie and cruising in his '53 Chris Craft. In 2008, Bob was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Over the past year and a half, he fought hard, still getting in a few rounds of golf and a lot of fun with friends and family. He passed away on April 5, clearly feeling great love and support from everyone.
