Carleton L. Nugent Obituary (1939 - 2018)

Skip was born August 7, 1939 in Hanover, NH. He attended and graduated from Lebanon High in 1957. He immediately enlisted in the Air Force. His basic training was in San Antionio, Tx, then 9 months training in St Louis to be a radio technician. He then served one year on St Laurence Island in Alaska, along the Bering Strait. He was told before he left for Alaska there would be a woman behind every tree, but when he got there, there were no trees. He later finish his Air Force career at Mc Guire AFB In New Jersey. In 1959 he married Janet Read and had two children, Doreen and John. He built a beautiful home in Plainfield NH, where they lived for many years. He later divorced and married Jane Wheeler in 1975. They lived in Enfield NH on Mascoma Lake, where Skip learned to waterski and enjoy the many pleasures of living on a lake. Skip was employed by Split Ballbearing for 28 years. When that career ended he found great satisfaction working for the Milowsky family and their restaurants, where he truly felt a part of the family. When he moved to Arizona in 1996, he found much gratification from his handyman business, which he retired from at the age of 71. For many years he found time to play a round of golf each week, as the weather in Arizona was so conducive for golf. In 2014 he was diagnosed with cancer and he continued to battle until his passing. He is survived by his wife of 43 years Jane, his daughter Doreen Bowlin (Dan), a son John Nugent, grandchildren Travis Nugent (Lindsay White), Allie Rowett (Spencer), Taylor Nugent (Jake Burns), Justin Bowlin, and great grandchild Wyatt John Nugent. Two sisters, Barbara Garey (Herbie), and Carole Stevens, and several nieces and nephews.
