Carlyle Raymond Obituary (1934 - 2022)

Carlyle Raymond was born to Steve and Josefina Raymond on February 19,1934 in Lyford, Texas, close to Raymondville. He passed away on March 11, 2022 being at peace with his Lord and Savior. Carlyle had a diverse life, full of trials, adventures, and achievements. He moved around frequently during his childhood, even picking cotton to help put food on the table. He completed his education thru the 6th grade. He eventually joined the United States Air Force, who sent him to the University of Oklahoma where he graduated with a degree in Electrical Engineering. Carlyle moved up thru the Air Force, becoming an commissioned officer. At the beginning he launched spy satellites. He then designed the Military Space Shuttle program at Vandenberg AFB. He retired after 22 years as a Major, choosing not to advance to the status of Lt. Colonel. Instead, he chose to answer the call of his Lord and Savior. He attended the Andrews University School of Seminary, receiving a degree in Masters of Religion and Theology. He spent the remainder of his career being a pastor of the Seventh Day Adventist Church, where he built many churches. Carlyle had many talents and passions. The three that he was best known for were golf, star gazing, and biblical studies, not to mention his sharp sense of humor. He had a blended family, recently losing his beloved wife Willie of 47 years. He is survived by one brother and two sisters and their families, 6 children and their spouses from his first marriage, 3 children and their spouses from his blended family with Willie, 11 grandchildren, 7 great-grand children, and 3 great-great-grand children, along with extended family that he held dear to his heart.
