Cathy Lynn Wankle

Cathy Carline Wankle was born on February 10, 1951, in Chicago, Illinois, and passed away on February 6, 2021, at Tucson Medical Center, with her family at her bedside.

Cathy is survived by her father and stepmother, Tom and Charlene Carline; her sisters, Sue Carline, Debbie (Bill) Prather and Kristen (Bob) Chafa; former husband, Paul Wankle; sister-in-law, Linda (Darryl) Ebert; and nieces, Alexandra Prather (John Lazar), Maggie Prather, Ann (Tim) Warner and Amy (Filip) Trbovic.

Cathy grew up in Rockford, Havana and Springfield, Illinois, respectively. She attended Havana Community High School and Springfield High School, graduating in 1969. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Lakeland College in Sheboygan, Wisconsin in 1973. It was there that she met Paul Wankle and they married on May 1, 1976.

Cathy resided primarily in Pleasanton, California, most of her adult life, and retired from a lengthy, successful career with Allstate Insurance Company in 2006.

Cathy was a radiant, shining star, full of life and loved by everyone who knew her. She lit up a room with her smile and beautiful red hair. She looked at life through the window of reason and never faltered from her beliefs. She enjoyed a wonderful, cultured life traveling both abroad and domestically, dining out, spending time with family and friends. Especially dear to her heart were the annual family vacations to Wisconsin and other locations. She will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving her.

A private Celebration of Life will be held on February 14, 2021 at Saddlebrook Ranch in Oracle, AZ. A Celebration of Life will be held in Springfield, IL at a later date.
