Charles Burkett

Charles Dixon Burkett A much loved husband, son, father, grandfather and friend passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family. Charlie was born in Moundsville, WV to Charles Alfred Burkett (deceased) and Thelma V. (Bickerton) Burkett. He is survived by his loving wife Susan; mother, Thelma Burkett; daughters: Lisa (Jack Rumps) Burkett, Stephanie Burkett, Judy (Scott) Brevaire; son Charles (Michelle) Burkett; grandchildren: Brandon, Taylor, Robert, Michael, Sean, Denielle, Sienna and little Charlie. After moving to Tucson in 1957, Charlie graduated from Amphi HS and the University of Arizona with a BS in Public Administration. In 1963 he proudly joined the Tucson Police Department, retiring in 1984 as a Sargeant in the detective division. He is a member of the FOP Lodge #1, Tucson, AZ and president of Region #31 International Police Association. A memorial service will be held on January 12, 2013 at 11:00 am at St. Mark's Methodist Church, 1431 W. Magee Rd, with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Casas De Los Ninos in Charlie's honor.
