Dennis Ray McCarty

Dennis Ray McCarty left Oro Valley on Monday, June 13, 2016. His lifetime experience at the Illinois Central Railroad prepared him for his new job - managing the Heavenly Express.

Dennis was born on April 16, 1932 in Marion, Illinois to Lafayette-Ivan and Nettie McCarty; he is predeceased by his parents, his aunt Ivalea, and his siblings, Martin, Pat, Katherine, Danny Jo, Bill, Leon, Elaine and Mary.

Dennis is survived by his wife, Ida, stepchildren Julie and David Ortega, daughter-in-law Leah Brosio. Dennis is also survived by Alice Plunkett McCarty, mother of their four children, Mary (Kevin) Magee, Katherine (Wendell) Wildes, Elizabeth (Mark) Christiansen and Patricia (Michael) Frain.

Dennis is also survived by his grandchildren Sage and Artemis Ortega-Shue; Kevin Magee, Cara Shepherd, Patrick Magee, Brendan Magee; James, John, Andrew, and Matthew Wildes; Leah and Bess Christiansen;

Michael Jr, Elizabeth Ryan, Connor, Matthew and angel baby Sean Frain. Two gifts from Heaven this year will add to the current roster of 12 great-grandchildren. Dennis and Ida moved to Sun City in 1994 and have enjoyed their time here... the perfect love, life, and retirement. Many wonderful and treasured friendships have been made here. Throughout the years, even during the worst of times, Dennis' wonderful sense of humor and endearing charm never diminished... these were his gifts, enjoyed by all who knew him.
