Donna J Cate

Donna Cate, 87, passed away in Tucson, Arizona on November 30, 2018. She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Ronald B Cate; children, Sandra Ponton (Ellis), Melissa Rinker (Kurt), 6 grandchildren and 2 great grandsons. Donna was born in Decatur, Illinois. She grew up in Bloomington & Streator, Illinois where she met and married her high school sweetheart Ron. She attended Illinois Wesleyan University where she was proud to call herself a Kappa Kappa Gamma, remaining active with her sorority throughout her life. Married in 1952, she and Ron moved throughout Ron's career with Illinois Bell and AT&T living in several Illinois towns, raising their family in Northbrook Ill, Moving to Chatham New Jersey and back to Illinois. Upon Ron's retirement in 1989 they settled in Tucson AZ. Donna was a beautiful pianist and loved to sew, knit and play bridge. She enjoyed summer months at their beloved lake house in Wisconsin where her family would gather every summer. She enjoyed over 50 years of membership in PEO, most recently being an active member in the DU chapter where she forged lifelong friendship's. Donna joins her son David, and grandchildren Kelsey and Rachael in eternal life. Her family will miss her dearly but will hold her memory in their hearts forever.
