Ellen Jane Longan Rozehnal, a loving wife, mother, and friend, passed away on August 10, 2023. Born in Billings, Montana on July 31, 1939, her gentle spirit and dedication to family, faith, and art touched everyone she met. Ellen's affection for her birthplace and fond attachments to her roots and the cowboy spirit of Montana never wavered throughout her life. \n\nEllen received her bachelor's degree from St. Olaf College in 1961 and went on to a career in the public service utility sector. In Denver, Colorado, she met her husband, Richard Rozehnal--bonding over their shared obsession with mountains and skiing. Together, they raised their two children. Ellen's faith was an important part of her life; she was a lifetime member and active participant in the Lutheran Church.\n\nEllen had an adventurous spirit and a deep intellectual curiosity. Her love for travel and interest in other cultures led her to journey across all seven continents. She was also an avid and accomplished artist whose paintings and needlework reflect the color and beauty she observed in the world around her. Ellen's retirement years were spent in the place she loved the most: the stunning mountains of Silverthorne, Colorado, where her passion for skiing, hiking, wildflowers, wildlife, birds, and high altitude vistas flourished. Ellen spent the last nine years of her life in Oro Valley, Arizona, still active and engaged in the many activities she enjoyed. \n\nShe is survived by her husband, Richard Rozehnal, her son, Rob Rozehnal, her daughter, Sarah Ward, and her elder brother, Fredrick. She was preceded in death by her younger brother, Tom, and her parents, Franklin and Hilda Longan.\n\nEllen Rozehnal's long and rich life was a testament to love, faith, and family. Her spirit lives on in the hearts of those she loved and in the many lives she touched during her remarkable journey. We invite you to share your memories of Ellen and upload pictures of precious moments spent with her on her memorial page. \n\nA memorial service will be held in her honor on Saturday, September 2, 2023 at 1 pm at Vistoso Funeral Home in Oro Valley, Arizona.
