Evangeline "Eve" S Torres Obituary (1924 - 2022)

TORRES, Evangeline Sepulveda August 5, 1924-February 16, 2022 Passed away at age 97 on Wednesday, February 16, 2022 in Oro Valley, AZ. Eve, or "Vangie," as she was known in her family, was a beautiful, vivacious lady with immense charm and a sparkling personality. Born in Bisbee, AZ she grew up in a large family at Fort Huachuca, where her father held a contract to make boots and shoes for the soldiers. She was the eldest of eight daughters with three brothers. Eve graduated from Tombstone High School in 1942 and became a Federal employee. Later she moved to Southern California, where she met and married Daniel G. Torres. In the early 1960's she moved to Falls Church, VA when Dan accepted a position in the Pentagon. Eve enjoyed more than 15 exciting years in the Nation's Capital, taking full advantage of social activities and cultural opportunities. Eve and Dan returned to Southern California in the late 1970's after he retired from Civil Service, and they enjoyed a full and active life in Long Beach, close to family and dear friends. She volunteered in support of local and national charities, including the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. She initiated the annual Sepulveda family reunion, which she hosted in Long Beach every Labor Day weekend for nearly 30 years. Eve and Dan loved to travel, especially with family and friends. She visited many countries around the globe, making new friends with whom she corresponded for years to come. Eve remained in Long Beach after Dan passed away in 1998, until she returned to Arizona in 2007 to live in Splendido, a Continuing Care Retirement Community in Oro Valley. She enjoyed an active and fulfilling life at Splendido, making many new friends. Eve's son George sadly passed away in April 2021, and she is survived by George's son Daniel and his wife Ashley, and their children Kaweh, Ikaika, Kawena, and Kamawae. She is also survived by her daughter Robin and her husband Bill, their son Ben and his wife Olivia, and their children Luke and Evelyn, and by sisters Rachael, Rose, Ernestine, Leticia, Irene, her brother Salvador, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. There will be a memorial service for Eve at Splendido on Saturday, February 26, 2022 from 11AM to 2PM. At a later date her ashes will be interred in the Columbarium at Arlington National Cemetery in Washinton, D. C. with her husband, Dan.
