Bassler - Richardson passed away peacefully in her sleep on May28, 2023 at Splendido Retirement Community in Oro Valley, AZ. She was born inColumbus, Ohio on September 28, 1926 to Howard S. and Elisabeth T. Sterner.Growing up, she attended Columbus School for Girls, and in 1948 graduated fromWells College in New York with a B.A. in history and art. First married in 1948 to Robert E. Bassler Jr., she was a devoted Army wife for thenext 28 years at 15 locations throughout the USA, and in Germany, Argentina, andThailand overseas. As an Army wife, she still found opportunities to pursue herinterests, working at the Columbus (OH) Gallery of Fine Arts, the PhiladelphiaMuseum of Art, the National Museum (Bangkok, Thailand), and as a docent atColonial Williamsburg (VA). She and her husband settled in Tucson, AZ following his retirement from the Armyin 1976. They thoroughly enjoyed life in Tucson, and traveled to visit friends andfamily. Widowed in 1985, remarried in 1990 to Hal C. Richardson Jr., and then againwidowed in 1999, she also became an active supporter and patron to theNorthminster Presbyterian Church, the Tucson Symphony Orchestra, and the TrueConcord Voices and Orchestra. She is survived by her two sons, Robert E. Bassler III (Marcia) and Thomson S.Bassler (Helen); step-daughter Lauren Farrell (Joseph); step daughter-in-lawMaxine Richardson; two grandchildren Alison Feeney (Michael) and StevenBassler (Michelle); and six great grandchildren Benjamin, Avery, Cole, and LeviBassler, and Connor and Nora Feeney. She will always be remembered for her ability to make lasting friends wherevershe lived. A memorial service will be held at 1 PM, June 13, 2023 at VistosoFuneral Home, 2285 E. Rancho Vistoso Blvd, Oro Valley, AZ 85755. Burial will beat Arlington National Cemetery at a future date to be determined. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to the Northminster Presbyterian Church,Tucson Symphony Orchestra or the True Concord voices and Orchestra. There are no gallery images.
