Herta Elisbeth Murray Obituary (1930 - 2012)

Herta Murray, Born in Munich, Germany on August 11, 1930. Passed away after, a valiant fight with cancer on April 28, 2012. Preceded in death by her first husband Raymond Rabe and her second husband, John Murray. She is survived by a son, Lance Rabe, daughter, Barbara Rabe (Jefferies), Son-in-law, James J. Jefferies, III, and grandson, Travis Jefferies. Herta lived in Germany during her childhood and after being fortunate enough to survive the horrors of World War II. She moved to New York City in 1955 and proudly became a citizen of the United States. She was trained as a nurse in Germany and worked for a New York Physician before becoming licensed in the states. In order to obtain her nursing license, she moved to Detroit, Michigan. Herta decided she wanted to move to a warmer climate after she received her nursing license and chose Los Angeles, California. Working as a nurse she moved up to be the Assistant Director of Nursing at Los Angeles County General Hospital. During that time she began to invest in real estate around the Los Angeles area. She later moved to Tucson, Arizona in 1977 to be with her family. Herta was a devoted mother, grandmother, and a kind, compassionate nurse. Most of all she loved working with Barbara and Lance in their family real estate business. Herta will be dearly missed by her family, friends, tenants of Catalina Country Manufactured Home Community in Catalina, Arizona and the many, many people she has helped throughout the years. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the very kind and caring staff of Case de la Luz Hospice Inpatient Unit for ensuring Herta was comfortable during her last days. A private gathering in her memory will be held for her family at the Vistoso Funeral Home. To accommodate her final request, she was cremated and her ashes were spread to be with God in the desert.
