Hulda Iona Purdy Andrews

Hulda Iona Purdy Andrews, 104, of Spencerville, Ohio, passed peacefully on Sunday, April 18t, 2021 in Oro Valley, Arizona.

She was born on December 13, 1916 in Spencerville, Ohio to Orville and Mary (Edwards) Purdy. Her early years were spent on a farm in Van Wert county, Ohio. At four years of age her family moved to Leipsic, Ohio where her father worked for the Ohio Power Company. She had a sister, Leona Merle Purdy (Wiler) and a brother, John Richard Purdy.

She was married to John Richard Andrews on June 7, 1939. John died on June 27, 1999. At his passing they had been married 60 years. John had graduated from the University of Toronto with a degree in veterinary medicine in 1938. He operated a veterinary practice in Ottawa, Ohio where Hulda was the office manager. In 1947 their only daughter, Linda Kay Andrews (Lewis) was born.

After John took and early retirement from veterinary medicine, they spent several years in Georgia and North Carolina where Hulda helped manage a motel and diner. They would later settle in Wheat Ridge, Colorado near her sister Leona. She and John enjoyed dancing and were avid Bridge players.

She is survived by her daughter, Linda K. Lewis MD of Marana, Arizona, and her son-in-law William Lewis MD of Marana, Arizona and her grandson Bryce Lewis JD of Denver, Colorado.
