Inez M.J. Christenson

Inez M. J. Christenson, 97, of Oro Valley, AZ, died in Oro Valley at on Sunday, May 8, 2022, Mother's Day!

Born in Albert City, IA, on October 28, 1924, Inez had been a resident at Splendido in Oro Valley since the fall of 2006 when she was one of the first residents to move into the new complex on Rancho Vistoso Boulevard. A lifelong homemaker, Inez had previously resided in Bowling Green, KY, for 37 years, having moved there from Oskaloosa, IA, in 1969.

After graduating high school, Inez attended Business School in Grand Island, NE, before marrying her high school sweetheart shortly after WWII. Inez and her husband, Victor J. Christenson, started married life in Storm Lake, IA, while Vic was a student at Buena Vista University. They then lived in Cleghorn, IA, Fort Benning, GA, Fort Leonard Wood, MO, Albert City, IA, Sutherland, IA, and Royal, IA prior to moving to Lincoln, NE, where Vic received his Doctorate from the University of Nebraska. It was there that Inez became a lifelong Husker fan, a team she rooted for through thick and through thin for the rest of her life. Inez was also a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, as well as an avid golfer and bridge player. She was very active in her church in Bowling Green. Some of her fondest memories were of time spent with family and her trips with Vic to the Holy Land and to Sweden and Norway.

Inez was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her sister. She is survived by sons, Bruce "BC" (Deb) Christenson of Oro Valley, AZ, and Brett Christenson (Alisa Wolfe) of Tucson, AZ; grandchildren, Ty (Andi) Christenson of Lawrence, KS, and Anna Christenson (Cait Healy) of Denver, CO, and two great-grandchildren, Brooks and Paxton Christenson of Lawrence KS. Other survivors include cousins, nieces, and nephews.
