Janet was born on March 12, 1941, in Lincoln, Illinois, but lived most of her life in Tucson, Arizona.Janet "Jan" was a fierce supporter and protector of her family. She was mild-mannered and fun-loving,but if you messed with one of her children, grandchildren, or great grandchildren, you would suffer thewrath. This is said in jest (mostly). She attended school plays, sporting events and just about anythingher children were involved in. She was a Brownie, Girl Scout, and Boy Scout leader, she served in ourclassrooms and taught us the values of honesty, unconditional love, virtuous manners, good decisionmaking, and respect for others. She continued to do the same for her grandchildren as her health and travel would allow. She wasgreatly appreciated for taking her grandchildren back-to-school shopping every year. She loved doing itand it was a great bonding experience for all. For many years she mailed a card with $5 to each of hergrandchildren and great grandchildren, even when they were well into adulthood, for every holiday.Jan is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 63 years, Merle; brother Richard "Dickey"; sisters,Marilyn "Joanie", Joyce "Margie" and Judith "Judi". Jan is survived by daughters, Gail and Linda, and sonMerle "Eddy"; sisters Donna (PK) and Patty; grandchildren, Ian, Aaron (Natasha), Minda, Brent (Brandie),Mitchell, and Michelle; great grandchildren, Anissa, Zander, Hunter, Carter, Liam, Carter Morgan, CaseyRose, and Samuel "Sammy".Jan was a passionate baseball fan. She loved Pete Rose and the Arizona Diamondbacks. She loved Elvisand old-time country western music. Prior to her illness, Jan was an avid reader, especially enjoyingHarlequin Romance, that fed the dreamer in her and non-fiction.Jan loved to play cards and other board games. She was funny and fun and loved to laugh. She has goneto a better place to be with her husband and siblings. We are thankful that she is no longer in pain, butJan, Mama, Gramma, you will be greatly missed by those that love you here on earth.
