John C. Pomeroy was born in Sterling, Michigan on March 25, 1923 and passed away in Oro Valley, Arizona on July 25, 2013. He was with his loving companion, Phyllis Willis and his daughter, Diane Diaz, when he passed away peacefully. John was a World War Two veteran of the Merchant Marine having served as a radio operator in the North Atlantic and the North Sea. He received a Commemorative Medal from Ambassador Lukin of the Russian Federation for his contributions to Russia during World War Two. After the war, John returned home where he married Mary French and the couple had five children. John was an entrepreneur who started and managed businesses in the areas of radio, television and shipping. John was preceded in death by his wife, Mary and his son, Thomas. He is survived by Phyllis Willis, his brother, Richard Pomeroy and his sister, Miriam Byrd, his four daughters, Laura Park, Diane Diaz, Patricia Pomeroy and Katherine Pomeroy and his daughter-in-law Linda Pomeroy. John is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Funeral services and burial will be held on August 10, 2013 at Palm Beach Memorial, 3691 Seacrest Blvd., Lantana, Fl. 33462.
