John Wagner

–

Tucson, Arizona

The children of John Charles Wagner Jr. of Tucson, Arizona are saddened to announce his passing on August 4, 2025, at the age of 87.

Born in New York on April 25,1938, John was the son of John C. Wagner and May E. Wagner. He grew up in a time of great change and carried with him throughout his life a deep appreciation for history, politics and civic engagement. John proudly served his country as a veteran of the U.S. Army.

He will be remembered by his wife Nancy, his son John C. Wagner (Lisa) and his daughter Denise Fisher (Grant). His legacy continues through his grandchildren: Morgan, Max, JC, Anthony, Emerson and Rhiannon. John also shared a close bond with his brother Wayne U. Wagner (Mary), and had friendships that spanned decades of shared memories.

He was proceeded in death by his parents and by Irma B. Wagner, his first wife.

A passionate collector of political campaign memorabilia, John found joy in preserving pieces of American history. His collection reflected not only his hobby but also his lifelong interest. John served as past president of the Bethpage Rotary Club, and had a successful career in banking, one that spanned over 30 years.

To honor John’s memory, we ask that you hug your family a bit tighter and tell them you love them. May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him.
