Joseph Voisine

–

Saddlebrooke, Arizona

On the afternoon of October 20, 2023, Joseph Albert Voisine passed away at home with his wife at his side. Joe was born in Fort Kent, Maine, on January 23, 1945. He married Joanna (Sziich) Sickul Voisine on June 1, 1996. Joe is survived by his wife Joanna, his son Carl, four grandchildren, Curtis, Miriam, Natalie, and Evelien, and 7 brothers, Delcey (Canada), Wilmer (GA), Reynold and Leonard (TX), Roger (FL), Joel and Elmer (CT).

Joe served his country as a French translator in the 297th Military Intelligence Battalion during the Vietnam War, qualifying as an M-14
sharpshooter, expert level, carbine.

Following his military service Joe received an Associate’s Degree in Accounting. He worked in the banking industry, and at a brokerage firm. In the early 1970’s Joe transitioned into an entrepreneur, working with investment properties, and a drywall company.

Joe generously volunteered his time to the community. While living in Connecticut, the Governor and Town Mayor on behalf of the Bethel Republican Town Committee presented Joe with the “John L. Thiele Distinguished Service Award” for outstanding service to the town. Joe was also a Shriner and 32nd degree Mason, proud of the work they did caring for wives and children.

Joe had an engaging personality, being named the class flirt in his high school yearbook, even though he says he never had a date. Joe had a wonderful never-met-a-stranger personality.

Joe had many hobbies and interests throughout his life. He enjoyed shooting and was an avid gun collector. He loved NASCAR, and his cars. His two most prized vehicles were his Shelby AC Cobra 427, serial number 007, and a 2004 Ford F-150 Lightning. Joe loved to ATV with Joanna and friends, often sporting one of the many baseball caps in his collection. He enjoyed hunting, and loved to travel the U.S. and abroad.

Over the last few years Joe’s favorite pastime was gardening. He was a garlic and onion connoisseur, planting varieties from all over the world. Joe loved sharing his bountiful harvest with everyone he knew. You couldn’t visit without leaving with tomatoes, onions, and garlic.

A memorial service will be held on November 6, 2023, at 2:00 PM, at the Vistoso Funeral Home, 2285 E. Rancho Vistoso Blvd., Oro Valley, AZ.
