Judith "Judy" Ann Moncevicz (Feb 10, 1943 - Mar 5, 2021)
Judith Ann Moncevicz, 78, died on Friday, March 5, 2021 at 9:21 PM at Casa de la Luz in Tucson, AZ. She was the beloved wife of Paul Hipolit Moncevicz.
Born in Brockton, MA, she was the daughter of the late Captain Andrew and Virginia (Raugiala) Johnson.
She was crowned the first "Miss Firefighter" in 1961 by Earl W. Patriquin, chairman of the 1961 Brockton Fire Department Ball. She graduated from Brockton High School in 1961. She received her Bachelor's (Math & Science in Education) and Master's (Mathematics in Education) degrees from Bridgewater State Teacher's College.
She taught mathematics at Sandwich junior high school and at Bourne High School. In the early 1980s, Judy opened her own craft store called "the Knot Shoppe" in Buzzards Bay, MA, then later opened a larger craft store called "Craft Time" in Brockton, MA. She taught Bob Ross painting, silk flower arranging, and macrame classes in both craft stores. In the late 1990s, she closed her craft store and worked at the 9 West shoe and Petite Sophistocate outlet stores in the Cape Cod Outlet Mall.
In 2004, she retired and moved to Saddlebrooke in Tucson, AZ. She was a member of the Saddlebrooke Computer Club, Mountain View Ladies' Putters, Saddlebrooke Bunco Group, and one of the original members of the "Amberwood Gang" Dinner Club.
She loved to travel to places like Florida, Bermuda, and the mountains of New England. She took cruises in Hawaii, the Carribean, South America, and Bermuda. She frequently visited Nantucket, Martha's Vineyard, Provincetown, and other places around Cape Cod Bay via boat. She especially enjoyed sailing, boating, swimming, going to the beach, and whale watching. She loved both water and snow skiing, and excelled in roller skating and ice skating. She adored our Black Labrador Retriever, Snoopy. She spent a significant amount of time in Las Vegas over the last 20 years because she enjoyed the sparkle and glitz of the fantasy world - shows, food, and fine wine - that was the center of Las Vegas.
She was a devout parishioner at Santa Catalina Roman Catholic Church, and loved saying the Rosary.
In addition to her husband of 55 years, she is survived by a son, Paul H Moncevicz, Jr. of Tucson, AZ and a daughter, Andrea A Letourneau, of Phoenix, AZ.
The wake will be held on March 11, 2021 at 1pm-3pm at Vistoso Funeral Home, 2285 E. Rancho Vistoso Blvd, Oro Valley, AZ. The funeral will be held on March 12, 2021 at 12:00pm with a Rosary at 11:30am at Santa Catalina Roman Catholic Church, 14380 N. Oracle Rd, Tucson, AZ. Burial will follow at Holy Hope Cemetery, 3555 N Oracle Rd, Tucson, AZ.
Magnificat
My soul proclaims the greatness of the
Lord, my spirit rejoices in God my
Savior for he has looked with favor
on his lowly servant.
From this day all generations will call me
blessed: the Almighty has done great
things for me, and holy is his Name.
He has mercy on those who fear him in every
generation.
He has shown the strength of his arm, he has
scattered the proud in their conceit.
He has cast down the mighty from their thrones,
and has lifted up the lowly.
He has filled the hungry with good things,
and the rich he has sent away empty.
He has come to the help of his servant Israel
for he has remembered his promise
of mercy, the promise he made to our
fathers, to Abraham and his children
forever.
(St. Luke 1, 46-55)
