?Kenneth F Almer\n\nOver the years of his retirement, Ken enjoyed bicycling, going for Corvette Club drives with his wife, and the beautiful Catalina Mountains of southern Arizona. He became a true "Arizona boy" and never looked back except to monitor the frozen temps during the harsh winters in Minnesota.\n\nKen and Jan were avid travelers. They enjoyed cross-country driving and made countless trips from Arizona to places throughout the country, particularly visiting their children, family and friends in the Midwest, California and Nevada. Ken loved speeding down the open road in any form, be it bicycling or driving his Corvette which he won in 2008 from the National Corvette Museum. \n\nKen was actively engaged in his Sun City retirement community, neighborhood and church. Friends remember him as a gentle, wise spirit who was kind, thoughtful, and helpful. He enjoyed working on many home improvement projects and was a neighborhood resource for offering sound advice and calm evaluation of difficult problems. \n\nHe is preceded in death by parents Olga and Fritz. He is survived his loving wife of 31 years Jan, two daughters Lindsey Almer (Jason Harry) and Jill Hopke, granddaughter Annie, two brothers Ray (Judy) and Fred (Debbie) Almer, goddaughter Sim (Ron) Reese and their daughter Lena as well as multiple nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbors and friends. \n\nKen's Arizona Celebration of Life will be held at Vista de la Montana United Methodist Church, 3001 E. Miravista Lane in Tucson, 85739 with military honors on Saturday, December 2nd; visitation 10:00 am, service at 10:30 am and refreshments immediately to follow. Neighbors Judy and Lee Jacobson have graciously offered to host an informal luncheon at their home beginning at 12:30 pm. \n\nKen's Minnesota Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday December 16th at 11:00 am at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, 1 North Rd in Circle Pines. A luncheon at the church to follow the sharing of our memories and stories about Ken. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Vista UMC mission fund.
