"Kino" Frank F. Sims, Jr., born in Tiger, Arizona on November 12, 1944, has gone to rest on February 8, 2009. He is preceded in death by his parents, Rita F. Sims and Frank "Chico" Sims; brothers Emmit "Hito" Sims, Angel Miranda and Ernest "Quito" Miranda; and a son-in-law Danny Quijada. Kino has 2 daughters, Lisa (Eric) Sims-Fox and Andrea (Elmer Tamayo)Sims-Quijada. With those are 4 grandchildren that he adored, Chelsie Sims, Eric Fox, Jr., Danny Quijada, Jr. and Thalia Tamayo. He has many brothers and sisters, Mary "Hita" Rodriguez, Clara Dupnik, Patricia Amavisca, Tencha Garcia, Sara Quintana, Mary Lou Dickson, Rudolfo "Quido" Miranda, Manuel "Pepo" Miranda and David "Boze" Sims. Kino has many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles and friends that will miss him. Kino was a fun spirited person at heart. He was a family person and loved to be around his grandkids. His obsession with the outdoors and hunting will live on through his grandson. Kino an d his wife, Bertha, reside in Dudleyville, following his unfortunate accident from February 2000. Kino grew up in Mammoth. He served in the Navy for 6 years. After his service with the Navy, he worked in the mines between Tucson and Hayden, which was his last job at Asarco where he worked close to 30 years. Kino was determined to fight and he fought with all the strength that he had, to his last breath. He will forever be our hero and in our hearts. Services for Kino will be at Blessed Sacrament Church in Mammoth on Friday February 13, 2009. Friends may visit from 9 a.m. until Mass at 11:00 a.m. A Rosary will be said at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made in Kino's name to Casa de la Luz Hospice Foundation, 400 W. Magee Rd, Tucson, Arizona 85704.
