Lawrence (Larry) Douglas Fox, 78, of Tucson, AZ peacefully passed away at home on Tuesday, September 13, after a long battle with cancer, at his home with his loving wife, Kathy, at his side.\n\n\n\nHe was preceded in death by his parents, Darrell and Jeanne Fox, and his brother, Dennis Fox. Lawrence is survived by his devoted wife, Kathy, his father's widow, June Fox, his brother Ronald A. Fox, BSG of Chicago, close family friend, Melchor Jimenez; and his sons, Steve and Randy.\n\n\n\nLarry graduated from Morris Community High School in 1962, where he excelled in athletics. He earned educational and administrative degrees from Illinois State University and Northern Illinois University. He worked at Wheaton North High School as a teacher, administrator and as Head Golf Coach, Assistant Basketball and Football Coach. As the principal at Jay Stream Junior High in Carol Stream and Edison Middle School in Wheaton, Larry was an inspirational mentor to hundreds of students and teachers.\n\n\n\nLawrence and Kathy were happily married 36 years. They spent 20 years in the western suburbs of Chicago. Together they enjoyed spending time golfing, traveling, and volunteering at the food bank.\n\n\n\nLawrence and Kathy moved to Tucson, AZ in 2006, where he was an avid golfer. Any day of the week he could be found playing a round of golf with friends as well as serving on the board of Mountain View-Preserve Men's Golf Association. Lawrence also mentored students with special needs, who loved Mr. Fox.\n\n\n\nLawrence and Kathy enjoyed many years filled with hiking, golfing, traveling, and dining out. They also enjoyed wonderful times with new friends and breathtaking AZ sunsets.\n\n\n\nLawrence did not allow his cancer diagnoses to discourage him from living life to the fullest.\n\n\n\nIn remembrance of Lawrence's life, Kathy requests that any charitable memorial donations be made to Banner Health Foundation /University of Arizona Cancer Center, Patient Services, 3838 N. Campbell Ave., Tucson, AZ 85719.\n\n\n\nA celebration of Lawrence's Life will be held in SaddleBrooke, AZ , at the Mountain View Clubhouse on October 26, at 2pm..
