She was born in Anderson, IN to Elisha (Bud) and Eva Margaret Isaacs. Melanie's beloved husband of 28 years Jack Edward Neilson, her parents, two sisters-in-laws and three brothers: Michael Andrew (Margie deceased) Isaacs of Lake Jackson, TX; Patrick Bruce (Joni) Isaacs of Clermont, FL; and Gary Kent (Joan-deceased) Isaacs preceded her in death.\n\nMelanie graduated from Ball State University, Muncie, IN, and Indiana State University, Terre Haute, IN, with BS and MS degrees in Business Education, Business Administration and Marketing Education. Her Vocational Director's License was earned at Indiana University and Purdue University in Indianapolis, IN. \n\nShe enjoyed a 36 career in education and education administration including serving as Assistant Director of the Area 30 Career Center in Greencastle, IN; served as a Marketing Education Specialist, State DECA Advisor, and Planning Specialist in the Indiana Department of Education in Indianapolis, IN; was a high school Marketing Education Teacher Coordinator at Anderson High School and taught part time college level Marketing Education at Indiana University in Bloomington, IN. She served as secretary, president and board member on many state and national professional education-related boards of directors throughout her career.\n\nAfter retiring in 2002 she and her husband moved to live full time in SaddleBrooke, AZ. She continued to serve in a variety of leadership roles including 10 years as president of the SaddleBrooke Villas Association No. 20, Inc.; was active on several committees at Community Church at SaddleBrooke; board member and secretary of the SaddleBrooke Women's Golf Association-18 and served as chair of numerous social activities and ladies golf tournaments.
