Michael P.J. Quinn Obituary (1991 - 2020)

Michael "PJ" Quinn passed away the morning of July 5th, 2020 just after his 29th birthday in the company of his wife, Catherine. PJ bravely fought multiple recurrences of Osteosarcoma for nearly four years, always maintaining a positive attitude and his signature sense of humor. Whenever asked how he was doing, his answer was always "Livin' the dream!" PJ was born in Drexel Hill, PA in 1991 and moved to Tucson with his family in 1998. He attended Wilson K-8 and graduated with his friends from Ironwood Ridge High School in 2009 despite his first bout with Osteo Sarcoma in his Junior year. He received his Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Northern Arizona University (NAU) in 2017. PJ spent his student teaching term tutoring children at Diamond Children's Medical Center while he himself was in chemotherapy. PJ was known far and wide for his incredible compassion, generosity and desire to help others. He was one of the most positive individuals you'd ever meet. It was his nature to put aside his own struggle, his own pain and worry about you, and make you laugh. When he walked into a room the mood instantly lifted into his cheerful demeanor. His laugh and joy for life was utterly contagious to everyone around him. An avid fisherman, hunter and camper, PJ never took a second for granted and made the most of every weekend and break from treatment to explore the great outdoors with his family and friends. PJ was a lifelong Philadelphia sports fan, but a rabid Eagles football fan. He adopted the moniker "PJ Bleeds Green" for Twitter, and he truly did, experiencing the highest of highs and lowest of lows every week with his beloved Eagles. The passion he had and shared with his fellow fans was permeable. It was like he could inject his fandom and excitement into you. To him, his fellow Eagles fans were like an extension of his family. He lived to see his beloved "Birds" win their first ever Super Bowl in 2018 and attended the celebration parade with his Father in Philadelphia. Although his time here was cut short, PJ led a full life with his wife, Catie. In 2017, they had their first date where they became captivated with each other instantly. He was the most supportive, attentive, loving, sweet boyfriend. In 2018, when PJ had yet another recurrence, he realized he couldn't go another day without being married to her; so that's exactly what he did. On October 15th, 2018, PJ and Catie eloped in Las Vegas with the support of family and friends. PJ made their marriage his most prized possession, and did everything he could to make her happy by being the best husband that he could be for her. Their marriage was filled with only laughter, happiness and saying "I love you" hundreds of times a day. From sticky notes filled with love left around the house, to nerf gun fights, to traveling the country by each other's side, they were constantly joined at the hip and sharing their love with the world.He is survived by his wife, Catie, his parents Bonnie and Michael, his sister Emily, his dog Scout, Aunts, Uncles and Cousins and the many loving, loyal friends he made everywhere he went.
