Mildred V. Leonard, 78, of Oro Valley, Arizona, passed away November 24, 2015 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Millie is survived by her husband, Robert Leonard; Children Deborah Wagner of Anchorage, Alaska, Kim Gromalski of Valrico, Florida, Dawne Baum of Morris Plains, New Jersey, Kelly (Kenneth) Rossmann of Middleburgh, New York and Kris (Vincent) Aspromonti of Glastonbury, Connecticut; 12 Grandchildren and 10 Great-Grandchildren.\n\nMillie was born on July 23, 1937 in Staten Island, New York. She meet her husband of 60 years there and they soon started their family. In 1959, the family settled in Brentwood, New York. She was employed by Brings Bakery, Brentwood School District and Great South Bay Surgical Associates. The family built a vacation retreat on Saranac Lake in New York's Adirondack Mountains known as "Loon's Nest" where many memorable moments were created. After retiring, Millie and Bob moved to Loon's Nest during the summer months. From October to May they chose to reside in Oro Valley, Arizona where she meet and formed longtime friends. \n\nMillie never missed a birthday or anniversary for a family member. She was the most giving person to all.\nShe was a dedicated fan of the Yankees and University of Arizona Girls Softball Team. Her hobbies included bowling, camping, hiking, playing bunco and words with friends.\n\nMillie had the most generous, loving heart and touched many lives with her presence. Her family and friends will always be thankful for the gift that was her life.\n\nFor all whom have loved her on the East Coast, there will be a memorial service honoring her in the coming months (details to follow).
