Naomi Campbell Ellsworth Obituary (1929 - 2022)

Naomi Campbell Ellsworth was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on April 6, 1929. She passed away on February 26, 2022. Naomi graduated second in her class from Carrick High School and graduated with honors from the University of Pittsburgh in 1950. She taught in the Pittsburgh Public Schools and the Baldwin Whitehall School District. She was the organist for the Canterbury Choir affiliated with the radio station KDKA along with serving as organist at various churches including the Baldwin Community United Methodist Church in Pittsburgh. She was a member of the American Guild of Organists for over 60 years. Naomi married Richard D. Ellsworth (Dick) on December 12, 1953. Their lifetime of love and devotion for each other was evident to all who knew them. They spent their working years in Pittsburgh and retired to Tucson, Arizona in 1992. where they enjoyed the desert wildlife and hiking the surrounding mountains. In Tucson, Naomi served as the organist at St. Bede's Anglican Church, was a member of Christ Church United Methodist, Tucson Audubon and the Southern Arizona Hiking Club. Naomi was predeceased by her husband of 62 years in 2016, her sister Betty Pfendler and son-in-law Gordon Jonas. She is survived by her son Richard (Barbara), daughter Cynthia Jonas; five grandsons, Gordon (Erica), Joseph, Daniel (Christina), John (Amanda) and Jeffrey (Cait); three great grandchildren Piper, Parker and Kenna as well as a sister, Marilyn Bowling. A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at the First United Methodist Church of Westfield, New Jersey on a future date.
