Paul R. Yantz Obituary (1940 - 2012)

Paul Yantz August 27,1940-March 16,2012 Paul died unexpectedly at Oro Valley Hospital on March 16, with his daughter and little sister at his side. He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends. Preceded in death by his mother and father, Anna and Peter Yantz and his son in law David Filter, Paul is survived by his daughter, Darlene Filter, his sisters Kathleen Yantz and Anne Marie Kuder (Michael), niece Barbara Herendeen (Grady) and nephew David Kuder (Jen) and their families. Paul was born and lived in Rochester, NY until he moved to Marana in 1998 to be near his daughter and son in law. Although you might not always know it, he was a very enthusiastic man. He worked at Eastman Kodak for many years, retiring enthusiastically in 1992. Paul was an extremely enthusiastic golfer and this led to many golf adventures with his friends (He's lucky cell phones and YouTube weren't around back then). His favorite job was a part time stint at Oak Hill which allowed him to participate in the Ryder Cup. Paul inherited a passion for horse racing and was very active in the harness racing community in upstate New York for many years. We have many fond memories of trips to the track where with that same enthusiasm he would implore horse and driver alike to go faster (again, good thing no YouTube). He loved sports, all sports; college sports, professional sports, high school sports. In New York and Arizona he attended many events; ice hockey, football, baseball, golf tournaments. He could cite statistics about almost anything sport related. After moving to Arizona, Paul was able to golf more frequently and develop his passion for Bridge. Although he missed his old friends and their adventures, he really enjoyed where he lived and his new friends. He was a loyal friend, a close and supportive big brother and a great dad.
