Rebecca's celebration of life began March 18, 1928 in Galva, Illinois. She was born to Alice Rebecca Boyd Best and Leon H. Best. Rebecca grew up in Galva, graduated from Galva High School and attended Northwestern University, majoring in art. She was a member of the Northwestern Chapter of the Gamma Phi Beta Sorority, of which her grandmother was a founding member. Rebecca met the love of her life, Ernest G. Ovitz, at Northwestern University. They were married on October 7, 1949 and recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. They share three grown children, Ernest III (Linda) of Denver, Colorado and Charlotte (Robert) and John (Kelly) all of Tucson, Arizona; six grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Rebecca lived a full and happy life with her husband. They owned and operated John H. Best & Sons, Inc. in Galva, Illinois for most of her life, selling the business in 2005. It was her grandfather who founded that business in 1892. Rebecca was an avid oil painter and those that knew her appreciated her talent. She had a true love for art and decorating. She loved to read. She was initiated into Chapter BR PEO and later became a member of Chapter CS Kewanee. She became a member of Chapter EY SaddleBrooke, Arizona when she retired in Tucson in 2006. Rebecca is also a DAR member affiliated with the Kewanee Chapter. Burial will be held in Galva, Illinois at a later date.
