Robert “Bobby” Larkin Hurt Jr.

Robert “Bobby” Larkin Hurt Jr., 79, of Tucson, Arizona, passed away peacefully at home on October 4, 2026. He was born in Indianapolis, Indiana, to Robert Hurt Sr. and Pamela Reeves.

Shortly after turning 18, Bobby enlisted in the United States Navy. He served honorably as a Petty Officer with the Seabees during the Vietnam War, working as a deep-sea mixed-gas diver, underwater salvage specialist, and sonar dome repairman. During his naval career, his work took him to five continents, including Antarctica. He retired from the Navy on October 30, 1987, following more than two decades of dedicated service.

Bobby lived a full and extraordinary life. Beyond his military service, he was a dedicated community leader who was active in the Elks, Lions, and Moose lodges. He was known for his heart of gold and his willingness to lend a helping hand. Among his greatest joys were woodworking, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.

Bobby married Emily Reveles, who brought three children—Susan, Francine, and John—into their marriage. Together, Bobby and Emily had a son, Robert Larkin Hurt III. Bobby is lovingly remembered by his siblings, Judy, Candy, Connie, and Jeff; his children, Susan, Francine, and Robert; his grandchildren, Tim, Anthony, Daniel, Louden, and Sloane; and seven great-grandchildren. In his final months, Bobby received devoted care from his favorite daughter, Susan, affectionately known as “the Warden.”

The family extends a special thank you to Lee Cook, Oscar Barrios, and Richard Sanders, whom Bobby considered his second son, for the steadfast friendship, kindness, and support they shared with him over the years.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, October 19, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Catalina Mountain Elks Lodge #2815. In keeping with his wishes, Bobby will be buried at sea.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bobby’s honor to Catalina Elks Lodge #2815, P.O. Box 8742, Tucson, Arizona, to support the “Clothe A Child” program, a cause that held a special place in his heart.
