Robert Kaucher, of Tucson, passed away on November 20, 2010. Born in E. St. Louis, IL in 1925, Bob Kaucher grew up as a child of the Depression. Called into service in the Navy in 1943, Bob served in the beach battalions in the Pacific, including the battle of Okinawa. Following the war, Bob married his high school sweetheart, Mary Ellen Shepard. Bob went to college at Northwestern and law school at St. Louis University. He practiced law for more than thirty-five years in southern Illinois before he retired in Tucson to enjoy the climate and to be near his grandchildren. A dedicated husband, brother, father, and grandfather, Bob is survived by his wife, Mary Ellen, a sister, Mary Ann White, a daughter, Pam Kaucher, two sons, Robert Kaucher II and Jim Kaucher (Janine), and two grandchildren, Alex and Aaron. He was a beloved friend of many of his neighbors in Saddlebrooke. The pain of Bob's sudden loss is assuaged by the knowledge that he waits for his friends and his family on the day when we will all be reunited. Bob's family invites you to join them at a memorial service and a celebration of Bob's life on Tuesday, November 30, 2010 at 1 p.m. at the HOA #1 Saddlebrooke Clubhouse. A reception will immediately follow. In accord with his wish to rest with his fellow veterans, Bob will be buried in the Southern Arizona Veterans'Cemetery in Sierra Vista on Wednesday, December 1, 2010 at 1:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Wounded Warrior Project in Bob's name.
