Robert Mark Keenan

R. Mark Keenan, beloved husband of Barbara Beghin and father of Jack Keenan, of Water Mill, NY and Oro Valley, AZ died in Tucson on October 1, 2025 after a hard fought battle with metastatic melanoma. He was 77.

Mark was the son of the late John Arthur Keenan and Marian Hill Keenan. Born and raised in New Rochelle, NY, he graduated from Northwestern University and University of California- Hastings Law School. He returned to New York and began his legal career as a law clerk to Chief Judge Thomas C. Platt of the United States District Court, Eastern District of NY. In 1975, he joined Anderson Kill, PC where he spent his entire legal career in the fields of insurance coverage, securities law and litigation. He was of counsel to the firm at the time of his death.

Mark was a force of intellect, curiosity and adventure. He was a voracious reader and lifelong student of history. He had a razor sharp acerbic wit and combined tenacity with a tender heart. Those who knew him will always remember his courage, strength, kindness and generosity. He loved to travel and explore the world. He was also an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed cold water swims in the ocean, bay or pools and long walks with his beloved dogs. He also loved caring for, restoring and spending time at his 1860 farmhouse. He was dedicated to preserving the farmland, character and history of the East End. Mark was a familiar face often seen jogging, kayaking, swimming or hiking with his labradors.
