It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Robert "Bob" Pettijohn, 82, of Tucson, Arizona. Bob passed away in his home after a long battle with lung cancer on Wednesday, January 16, 2019. Bob is survived by his loving wife of 60 years Sharon, three sons; Thomas, Michael and Brian, one grandson; Kenneth, and four great grandchildren.\n\nAn Arizona native, Bob was born in Bisbee, AZ on February 25, 1936, and during his lifetime he lived in Bisbee, Prescott, Phoenix and Tucson. Bob and Sharon also lived in Albuquerque, New Mexico for a few months at a time in the 1980's. \n\nAfter graduating from Tucson High in 1954, Bob joined the U.S. Navy where he attended electronics school at Treasure Island near San Francisco, CA, and submarine school in New London, CT. Bob served aboard the submarine USS Queenfish (SS-393) and sub tender USS Sperry (AS-12) as well as other Navy ships. \n\nWhile serving in the Navy, Bob met and married his wife Sharon in 1958. \n\nAfter leaving the Navy in 1959, Bob and Sharon moved to Phoenix where Bob went to work at Sperry Flight Systems. Bob went on to a successful career as a technical writer of avionics maintenance manuals for both commercial and military aircraft.\n\nBob and Sharon moved back to Tucson from Phoenix in 1990 where Bob worked at Honeywell until he retired in 2001. After retiring Bob and Sharon enjoyed traveling and taking cruises.
