Robert Lee Shannon

BLOOMINGTON Robert Lee Shannon, Heyworth Il, 70, passed away peacefully Sunday March 24, 2013) in Tucson, Az. He is survived by his daughter Sherri Shannon; Grand-daughter Michelle Alvey and his sister Nanci (Shannon) Dyer. He was preceeded in death by Michael Robert Shannon (son); parents, Porter and Alte Mae (Dryer) Shannon; his wife Sandra Shannon and his sister Sharon (Shannon) Reynolds. Robert was a graduate of Ellsworth High School and he served in the Air Force at Whiteman Airforce base in Warrensburg Mo. After his discharge he became a Tool and Dye maker working at both General Electric and Catepillar from which he received many patents for his work. He was an avid sports fan, especially football. He loved being a grandfather as well as travel which is where he met and married Sandra. While married they resided in Melbourne Australia. He and his "Aussie" wife lived happily "down under" for ten years traveling to several countries where he made lots of friends. A private service will be planned to celebrate his life.
