Rose Dorn

Rose Dorn was full of life, movement and color. She would seize each day and go forward with great energy to learn, try new things, and then share those experiences with those around her. Her sense of humor and readiness for fun lightened the intensity that was Rose. Balancing all the energy and vivacity, there is gentleness in her paintings that make one feel at peace. Rose was born on the east coast. Her ability to catch the look and feel of the water in her paintings is no doubt a result of this. Moving to California, while young and raising a family, she continued to fill herself with impressions, and pictures-drawings, sketching, painting, and studying. Discovering the adventure of plein-aire painting, Rose's work took an a whole new light. She is at home in a vineyard; with the scent of ripening grapes; on a dune, in the salty offshore breeze; or in the desert, capturing the evening light. Painting under a low tree to get just the angle, she captured the essence of places and times. Rose has been quite successful in showing and selling her paintings. Her work can be found on display in Arizona, California, Connecticut, Hawaii, Oregon, Washington, and England. She is mourned by her surviving family as listed.
