Ruth Odom (87) of Oracle, Arizona entered the gates of Heaven on July 27, 2019.\n\nShe was born on October 31, 1931 in Yukon, Oklahoma to Thomas Powell Taylor and Alice Lucy (James) Taylor.\n\nRuth's life journey was a walk of unwavering faith. After high school, she moved to Waxahachie, TX. to attend Southwestern Assembly of God College. She then moved to Edmond, Oklahoma to attend Central State College. It was there she met Charles Odom, whom she wed on June 21, 1957. Upon earning teaching degrees in 1958, Ruth and Charles accepted positions in Arizona. They put down roots in the Hayden/Winkelman area where they raised three sons, Phil, Chuck, and Dennis. Ruth taught school for over 30 years and served faithfully in the church as pianist, vocalist, Sunday School teacher, and treasurer.\n\nRuth's lifetime passions were many, including music, piano, and sewing. Nothing pleased her more than a house crowded with her family. She loved travelling with Charles in their RV, riding ATVs, and playing games by the hour. But, above all, Ruth loved the Lord. After retiring from teaching, she focused her energy on Christian evangelism.\n\nRuth was dearly loved by her family and will be greatly missed She was preceded in death by her parents Thomas and Alice Taylor, siblings Monita Wiebe, Tom Taylor Jr., Lahoma Welch, Norlyne Taylor, Gloria Chapman, and Alice Merryman.\n\nShe is survived by Charles W Odom, Oracle, AZ, devoted husband of 62 years; sons Philip Odom (Jan),Tulsa, OK, Chuck Odom (Annette), Mesa, AZ, and Dennis Odom(Sherri), Tucson, AZ.\n\nAlso survived by 10 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, sister Ramona Scott (Charlie), and many nieces and nephews.\n\nCelebration of Life will be Saturday, August 3, 2019, 11:00 a.m. at San Manuel Assembly of God Church, San Manuel, AZ.\n\n \n\nArrangements by Vistoso Funeral Home\n\nFlowers may sent to Vistoso Funeral Home\n\n2285 E Rancho Vistoso Blvd.\n\nOro Valley, Arizona 85755\n\n by 4:00 PM Aug. 2nd\n\n \n\nIn lieu of flowers, donations may be made to San Manuel Assembly of God\n\n 201 E.
