Dad grew up in Monona, WI. He graduated from Monona Grove High School & went through a couple of years of college before entering the Air Force. He was always proud of the fact that he received a scholarship through the Monona Small Businessman's Association. Dad was an extremely social person & loved having company over to the house. He also loved going out- especially for a good meal(aka Steak). He hunted, fished & went on annual fishing trips. Dad built our first house we lived in. Dad worked at Wisconsin Bell for most of his career. He was responsible for the first fiber-optics group there and ran the surveillance center. When we were little, he loved taking us on nature walks, boating, fishing, working on cars, sports & working on projects around the house or apartment repairs. He loved having the neighbors over, holidays & having his cocktail hour with cigars. Dad wore many different hats during his lifetime & achieved many of his dreams. He built the most beautiful B&B on Lake Michigan in Door Country, had a condo in the Florida Keys, started an old fashioned supper club, even had a goat at one point which he wanted since childhood (Lord knows why), and probably most importantly to him, met & fell in love with Donna & her family. In his last years he spoke mostly about his new mom, Donna's sister & Millie. He always loved to talk about all the big family gatherings they had. Dad was able to visit his daughters two times in recent years. On the last occasion he walked his oldest daughter down the isle which was also an important accomplishment for him. Dad had nicknames for everyone. Some he must have picked out of the sky, others had meaning behind them. He called his youngest daughter Becka 'Speck of Dust' because he said he loved her her when she was only a speck of dust in his eye. We will forever miss his huge smile, his silly ways, his strong opinions & his hugs.
