To View Vera's Celebration of Life CLICK HERE\n\n \n\nTo View Vera's Life Tribute Video CLICK HERE\n\nVera Lucile Battisti, 92, passed away in her sleep in Tucson, Arizona the morning of March 14, 2020. Vera was born in Herrick Township, PA, on January 6, 1928 to Henry Meyer and Sarah I. Ripple Howe.\n\nShe attended a one room school, and graduated from Towanda High School (PA) and the Lowell's School of Business (Binghamton, NY). She was a professional secretary before marriage, but spent her most rewarding years as a wife and a mother.\n\nVera enjoyed cooking, sewing and caring for others. She always dreamed of being a nurse. She volunteered at the Apalachin Methodist Church and with the Girl Scouts. She and her husband shared many interests including golf which they enjoyed through retirement. They loved to dance and are remembered for their Jitterbug. \n\nVera is descended from American Revolutionary War heroes George, Richard and William Howe as well as Julia Ward Howe, author of "The Battle Hymn of the Republic."\n\nShe was predeceased by husband Augustine Caesar of Altoona, PA, in 2009. She is survived by her elder sister Esther Haynes of Horseheads, NY, and La Verne M. Howe of Milan, PA, as well as three children Gloria A. Boyer (Wayne) of Tucson, AZ, Deborah S. Chilson (Rick) of Sun City Center, FL, and Armand A. Battisti of Wilmington, DE. She had five grandchildren: Christopher W. Boyer, Sarah E. Cuciti (Tony), Carrie L. Chilson, Timothy K. Boyer (Diem) and Sean R. Chilson. She also had three great grandchildren: Amalia S. Cuciti, Jasper Augustine Chilson and Theo Augustine Boyer. \n\nA Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, July 28, 2020 at 2:00 pm at Vistoso Funeral Home, Oro Valley.
