McKenzie, age 91 of Tucson, AZ., (formerly of Romeo, MI.), passed away Sunday, October 9th at Oro Valley Hospital in Tucson.\n\nVirginia was born in Bay Port, MI on February 26, 1925 and was the daughter of Melvin and Leona Dutcher. She was a 1943 graduate of Bay Port H.S. and obtained an RN in 1946 from Mercy College. On January 31, 1948 she married Duncan McKenzie, Jr. of Bad Axe, Michigan. He preceded her in death in 1996. Virginia worked for 40 years as an RN taking on many nursing roles in a number of hospitals in Michigan. She was known for her caring ways by her patients. Having been an athlete most of her life, Virginia was highly involved in her children's athletics. She was also very active and talented in golf, dancing, and aerobics her whole life. Virginia also was highly involved in politics. She had a big heart and was a great caregiver to family members and friends as needed even in her 90's.\n\nVirginia is survived by her daughter Barbara K. McKenzie of Tucson, AZ., son Duncan M. (Margaret) McKenzie of Biloxi, MS., Brothers; Melvin Pete (Edna) Dutcher of Caseville, MI., James (Shirley) Dutcher of Clinton Township, MI., sister-in-law Nellie Dutcher of Bay Port, MI., Granddaughters; Kelly (Bobby) McElmurry of Houston, TX, and Jamie (Michael Sawyer) McKenzie of Gulfport, MS, and great grandson William Duncan Sawyer of Gulfport, MS.\n\nInterment and a celebration of life service will be held at a later date in Michigan. Memorials may be made in Virginia's name to a Veterans organization of your choice.
