Yasuko Shorack Blaha passed away peacefully in her home on March 4, 2021.\n\nShe was born on November 17, 1931 in Tokyo, Japan.\n\nYasuko came to the United States and lived in Washington, California and, finally, Arizona. She spent most of her life in San Diego, raising her daughter, the best she could. A talented accountant, she managed accounts and finances for the San Diego Community College, until retirement. She enjoyed dancing, cooking and karaoke, but shopping, most of all. She would spend hours shopping or going through model homes. Many vacations were spent in Las Vegas to see shows and play slots. When off of work, she liked to play boardgames and card games with her daughter, something that continued with her grandchildren.\n\nAfter retirement, she remained in San Diego for a time, until moving to Oro Valley, to be closer to her grandchildren. She enjoyed watching them through high school and into college. We would spend weekends shopping and then having dinner - dessert was her favorite part. After dinner, we would watch a movie on television, until we were all falling asleep.\n\nShe passed on as she went through life, strong and knowing what she wanted, while refusing what she didn't. Even at the end, she wanted her favorite rice and nothing else - and we were happy to give it to her. We will always remember her love and strength.
